February 2-4, 2012
Hosts: Arleen Huffman, Marlene Morrison
Location: Casa de Fruta, Hollister, CA Toll Free Phone: 1 800 548 3813
IT'S CASA DE FRUTA TIME AGAIN!!!!
We have reserved 50 sites and a terrific clubhouse (The Music Hall) for this outing. The cost is $36.00 per night. This includes 2 people. If you have more than 2 people, it's $2.00 per person per night. We will handle reservations for Thursday night thru Sunday Nights. If want to come earlier or stay later, you'll need to make those reservations directly with the park but be sure you tell them you are with the group and I know they will try their best to put you in a spot from which you do not have to move.
Send your checks and the standard registration form to Arleen Huffman. If you need the mailing address, email Arleen and she will send it to you. You do not have a space until we get the cash. We will acknowledge receipt of your registration by email so if you don't hear from us within a reasonable amount of time, please contact us. Let us know if you have any special site needs and the park will do their best to accommodate us. Registration for this event will close on January 15, 2011. If there are more attendees than spaces, we'll start a wait list because there are always cancellations.
For those of you new to this outing, this park is a great venue for an often rainy February because there is NO MUD…it's an asphalt surface which means no sinking up to your wheel wells if you are a big rig and no muddy dog paws either! They have a great restaurant, produce market, sweets and a wine shop!
For those who may not be coming in a rig, there is also a motel on site, the Peacock Inn (with actual peacocks!) with rates starting at $79 for 1 Queen on the weekdays, $99 per night on Weekends. For details and reservations at the Motel, contact the motel directly but send us a registration form anyway so we know you are coming!
This year our theme is "HURRAY FOR HOLLYWOOD!!!"
Since this outing comes a few weeks before the Oscars, we're going to set the scene for a fun Hollywood style night. We are giving our wonderful All Girl Band the night off to enjoy some fun instead of working so hard! We are bringing in a PROFESSIONAL Karaoke DJ, Jenna Tayshak, with Rumors Production Co.for Saturday night. There will be prizes for best solo and best group karaoke. Jenna has wonderful state of the art equipment and a huge library (75,000 songs) of Karaoke, Sing-a-long and maybe even a couple of dance tunes to work off the potluck. If you have a special song you want to sing, please let us know…If Jenna doesn't already have it, she will try hard to get it into her list.
We are also having a Hollywood costume contest on Saturday night so come as a famous movie character! Oh yes and as usual, there will be a prize for the best movie costume.
There will be more expanded details to follow as we get closer but here is the tentative schedule so far:
Friday Evening:
•Meet & Greet in the clubhouse – bring snacks to share and your favorite beverages along with your own utensils, plates, etc.Saturday:
•Breakfast Potluck
•Drum Circle (tentative): bring your drums or any rhythmic percussion instruments
•Potluck Dinner

March 2-4, 2012
Hosts: Angela Pettit and Jonni Pettit,
Location: The Lakes - RV & Golf Resort – Chowchilla, CA
FreeWheelers has not been to this park before - this is a wonderful park. All cement pads, full services at all sites, young trees, and lots of other amenities. The clubhouse has a complete kitchen, hot water, microwave.
Things to do in the area: 1. Drive the Blossom Trail - a self-guided tour that takes several hours. This is generally North and East of Fresno/Clovis. 2. Tour the Forestiere Underground Gardens - Built (dug) by an Italian(?) immigrant in the early 1900s. He wanted a place to live free from the Fresno heat in the summer. 3. A Mammoth museum - located about 10 miles South of Chowchilla. 4. A very nice, but inexpensive, restaurant in Chowchilla called Cosaro's.
Both the Blossom Trail and the Forestiere Gardens have been featured on the PBS program, California’s Gold.
More information will be made available as we get closer to the date.

Along with the traditional gift exchange ($15 limit), we are asking that members who can to bring a new pair of hooded sweatshirt and pants for any size child to age 18. (Watch for the end of winter sales!) These sets of clothing will be donated to the Children's Receiving Home in Sacramento. With an average of 45 days stay, these children, especially in the winter, many times have no clothes. CRH makes sure that each child, upon departure, has three sets of clothing. If you would like to also donate a toy, that is perfectly acceptable also. CRH is thrilled with the idea and very grateful.
Our potluck dinner will feature Christmas "favorites"-entrees and desserts. Be it glazed ham, green bean casserole, yams with brown sugar....whatever, we can't wait to try it!
